This is one of those weekends where I wish I was better about being the obnoxious person who takes pictures of everything.  It was such a blast, and I was just too busy enjoying it to think about snapping photos.

Saturday morning after checking on patients, Patrick and I headed out for another round of bike riding.  I think last time I talked about how there really aren’t much in the way of hills around here, so where there are elevation changes the trail builders took full advantage of it by sending the trail up 10 feet in the air at an almost vertical grade.  Well, I was trying to pedal up one such hill and lost all momentum about 2 feet from the top.  In slow motion (I’m sure), I teetered back, went over the rear wheel, threw the bike to the side and went tumbling down the mountain hill.  I was ok, just a bruised hip bone, but dang, it hurt my pride a bit.

After cleaning up and heading to the grocery store for provisions we headed out to an apartment complex inhabited by lots of vet school students and interns for a pool party/cook out.  It was a blast and I definitely need more pool parties in my life.

After 4 hours of sleep, I was on the road to Prairieville to meet Paige and Dustin for some crabbing.  We got to the western shore of Lake Pontchartrain just in time to watch the sun come up (beautiful!) and set out some lines.  If you ever happened to see someone crabbing and you didn’t know exactly what it was they were doing, you would probably conclude that they had the crazies.  Crabbing consists of tying a chicken leg to a rope, throwing it out in the water and then reeling in in as slow as possible.  We didn’t have much luck and despite 6 hours of this only caught 3 crabs.  Can’t do much with 3 (I don’t think that would even feed one person!) so we threw them back.  Hopefully next time, cause it was still a really fun way to spend the morning.

Patrick and I puttered around the house and went out at 7 to walk our dogs down the levee.  We decided that will be really fun to do in October, but right now it’s just too stinking hot.

Design Star (for me) and Sherlock Holmes (for Patrick) finished up the weekend.
